Caroline Cole Ceramics: Schema

Image of two colourful ceramic vases.

A compelling dialogue between form, material and motif. Ceramic artist Caroline Cole brings nature’s hidden patterns to life at Oxo Gallery.

The exhibition features sculptural ceramic vessels decorated with detailed, hand-crafted designs inspired by geometric patterns, cellular structures and primordial influences.

Visitors will encounter pieces that appear to shift and move, created through precise repetition and optical patterning. The works combine art and science, offering a striking and accessible way to explore the structures that shape the natural world and anchor the universe.

Building on her previous exhibition at Oxo Gallery: Order Through Pattern (2023), Cole’s latest work marks a shift from strict mathematical pattern making into a more fluid exploration of how forms emerge in nature.

Using slip-cast techniques, she creates multi-sided, non-circular vessels whose surfaces are carefully constructed through repeated motifs, creating a sense of movement and transformation.
