Sima Vaziry, a talented jeweller and long-time maker at Oxo Tower Wharf, has launched her latest collection at the British Museum. Her 8th jewellery collection at the museum, "The Alexander Coins" is new for Spring 2025.

Sima’s jewellery complements the exhibition by reflecting the artistic traditions and materials that were exchanged along these historic routes. Her work has been associated with the British Museum for over a decade, underscoring her commitment to creating pieces that resonate with historical and cultural significance.

Sima created an impression of an original coin of Alexander the Great, King of Macedon on his horse, as well as Alexander the Great’s legendary horse, Bucephalas, which is commemorated on several ancient coins. This coin not only pays tribute to Bucephalas but also reflects the significance of horses in Macedonian culture and the royal lineage.

The depiction of Bucephalas on these coins underscores the profound bond between the horse and Alexander, as well as the cultural importance of equines in ancient Macedonia. These coins served not only as currency but also as instruments of propaganda, reinforcing the image of Alexander as a heroic and divine figure.
