Ukraine. Between the Sirens, a powerful solo exhibition by acclaimed French photographer Laetitia Vançon, curated by art producer Yaroslove Bystrushkin in partnership with Save Art International. The exhibition features a selection from Vançon’s long-term series Tribute to Odesa (2022–2026), which documents the resilience of civilians living through the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Through intimate and compelling photography, Vançon captures a country navigating daily life between air-raid sirens, uncertainty, and the determination to move forward. Her images reflect fragile hope, courage, and the endurance of people whose lives have been shaped by conflict.
An internationally recognised documentary photographer
Based in Germany, Laetitia Vançon is known globally for her documentary work exploring identity, youth, and the human impact of global events. She is a regular contributor to The New York Times, and her work has also appeared in The New Yorker, National Geographic, GEO, TIME, Vanity Fair, Der Spiegel, and M Le Magazine du Monde.
A turning point in her career came in 2022, when she documented the Ukrainian refugee crisis across Eastern Europe before beginning her first assignment in an active war zone in Odesa. She has since returned to Ukraine repeatedly, building a powerful and ongoing visual record of the human cost of war.
Vançon has received numerous international awards, including the OPC Feature Photography Award, Lucie Foundation Honourable Mention, Leica Oskar Barnack Award Shortlist, World Report Award Finalist, POYi Award of Excellence, Sony World Photography Awards – Professional Portraiture Winner, Siena Awards Storyteller Winner, LensCulture Exposure Special Mention, Bourse du Talent BnF Finalist, and Prix Pictet Storm Cycle Finalist.
As a finalist for the Prix Pictet Storm cycle, her work was exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, where the private preview drew an exceptional audience including members of the Royal Family, political leaders, diplomats, business figures, and cultural influencers.
Yaroslove Bystrushkin said:
“Laetitia is a remarkable photographer who did not turn away from war; she entered some of the most challenging and dangerous places in Ukraine, documenting human resilience with extraordinary courage and sensitivity.
The people of the United Kingdom, HM The King, and the Government have shown strong and consistent support for Ukraine, and I believe this exhibition carries an important cultural and humanitarian message.”
